I need to understand something about our stupid laws. I heard that the AR15 rifles are classified restricted. My understading is that these rifles are semi's and can fire bursts some can also fire as full auto. How can they be RESTRICTED???? or am I missing something here??

Only the military versions (i.e. M16, M4, C7.. etc) are capable of firing 3 rounds burst or some, full auto. Civilian version, which is commonly know as ar-15, is in semi-auto configuration only. You will not be able to acquire a full auto AR-15 unless you are LE or mil department.

Thank you for the clarification. Why then we can buy an AR15 which is a variant of the M16 but we can not buy the same in the saiga and the AK?? that are semi's too

Well here is another, how come a FN Fal is prohibited yet and M305 (M14) is unrestricted?? Same caliber, same mag cap., same barrel length almost, both military designs. Stupid, stupid, stupid!

I think the CFC is still trying to find out what they can and what they can not get away with. not to mention some manufacturers have pull with the governement while others clearly do not.

I think it is about time manufacturers importers and gun lovers form a strong association to deal with government because clearly what we have now does not work.

Guys, stop right there. You will hurt yourselves trying to figure this out. The CFC does not make the laws.

Please just read this and you will understand why things are:
There is no logic behind the prohibtion of certain firearms.

This being prohibited while that is not has nothing to do with how either function. Firearms are prohibited based on how scary they look. How ever, any additional prohibitions must go through and Order in Council. This will never happen.

What an eye openner for me anyway. Ok any suggestions on how we can get some of the firearms that we love reclassified as restricted and unrestricted like they should be classified?

If we make a list would the DCRA or other associations fight for us?
Does the DCRA or others have a permenant representative that visits the commitee on regular bases?

I tried to find more recent info on this committee but it looks like this committee has not met since 1996 or am I mistaken and need my fingers to do more walking?
