Hey folks, I don't know anything about AR 180's and since i'm selling all my restricteds, I want to pick one up to have a .223 rifle in case the Tavor goes missing

Whats wrong with the one on EE that's been bumped a few times ? anything I should look for in particular in a used 180 ?

Theyre light weight basic rifles. Only bad thing is the front pivot breaks if you slam the upper. But they make aftermarket alum replacement piece for it. You just grind the tabs off. Then drill, glue and pin. Other then that they dont make them anymore so harder to get parts. Probably bumped a few times because the cost and he wants to do local meet only.

I think theyre only max 1200$ rifle.

Nothing wrong I see....price is high. Going rate is usually $1200.00

I've owned one for at least 9 years. Nice rifle. Better than the Mini-14 that it replaced in my bush gun safe.

I wouldn't even give it that price...
Back when they were available the 180b was a $600USD rifle. I bought one new from a Canadian supplier and paid about $800Cdn.
IMHO it's not a very good rifle at all. Very cheaply built. In no way comparable to the original AR180.
The one I owned was not very accurate and literally came apart after less than twenty rounds... Welds failed.
The ONLY thing going for it in Canada is its status as a non restricted firearm, but really... Is that enough to compensate for a rifles crap-tasticness?
Anyone who pays $1500 for one of these is in for a huge disappointment.

Just moving to more Non restricteds and antique pistols.

With your luck, is it worth chancing having a "slightly more fragile than normal" gun? G:

I guess I have to keep looking for another NR, Thanks for the info guys.

acr bro!

mines at the bottom of the lake, it fell in with my tavor and my 858.
they sank pretty deep, recovery was impossible

i hear hk253 might be coming soon as well as the modern varminter

well you know a pontoon boat would been more secure when you had to move your safe from your remote cabin on the lake. Then to use then a canoe. Safes just don't balance well on a canoe.

i might get an hk243, but you never know lake okanagan is unpredictable, i have to cross it with my tripple trigger locked double locked case unloaded non restricted firearms with unloaded repinned to 1 capacity magazines and ammo in a locked steel box every 6 months, so who knows the hk243 might wind up at the bottom of the lake too. All those safety mechanisms make the canoe unstable. But you know, gotta be safe, because a safe is not a safe if its not a safe right?

fack! There I just summed up 240 threads in one paragraph!

You need a sling then.... or tie a string to it.

Since the Type 97's have come out, demand for them has shrunk a little as they fill the same sort of niche. Nothing wrong with the rifle that I can see, just asking a little too much.

I have one, and sure if you smash it it may break. But i dont handle it any differently than any of my other guns.
It isnt super acurrate, but hey, i can carry it out in the bush and bang on coyotes. i recently sourced and added a midwest quad rail just to change things up a little (midwest discontinued them a while ago and had two in stock when i imported mine last year)

My next goal is to get a Nodak lower but that has turned into quite the task...

As far as the price goes...yes they were originally available sub one thousand, but they are now few and far between, and with all the drama from the liberals i suspect that the desire for one will only increase... I wouldnt part with mine.
