For those that want a dedicated AR15 upper in 22 RimFire. Got mine today and had a chance to check it over carefully and test fire for function and accuracy. Tested out three brands of ammo for function.
The upper is made by Tactical solutions and is in their M4 configuration. The following pics are of a Stag Arms lower with an Armalite upper with comparison pics of the TacSol upper along with their supplied magazine. When installed one can't tell the uppers apart very readily other than the mag being a dead give away.

I will add a few pics of targets later this evening.
Both targets were shot at 25 meters off hand with iron sights.
First target rapid fire:

Second target slow and deliberate aim.

Initialy a few failure to feed and a couple light rim hits with Lapua Club and Win. Wildcat looks like it has a preferrence to plated bullets over plain lead CCI Mini Mags shot the best groups and functioned the best. It will take a couple more boxes of ammo to get the upper to function 100% and settle down. Will post more info as I test the TacSol upper out more in the the next few days. BlackDog Mag worked perfectly with as little as 5 rounds being loaded or its max capacity of 27 rounds.
I obtained this sample unit from a dealer/importer in Vancouver before he decides to commit to a larger order. I'm not sending this upper back no matter what!
Cleaned the action after yesterdays test firing. Lubed the firing pin with a teflon lube and went to the range tonight. 100% function with no failures to feed or fire. Lapua Club, RWS match with the plain lubricated lead bullets functioned perfectly as well. Previous problems were most likely caused by a burr or grit in the firing pin channel. One very happy camper here! Next trip will be with a scope to see what it will really do at 50 mtrs.

Questar are bringing these in too. I emailed them recently and was told their first shipment for orders placed at SHOT will be arriving late July.

How long is the overall barrel length? I heard they were 16" but they are set into the reciever farther due to the .22 bolt so appear just like a 14.5" barrel.

Good review. I'm looking forward to when mine shows up.

Accuracy & Function Tests

Mounted a Leupold 12x scope to test for accuracy. Conditions at the range were not great with wind gusts and rain. So the accuracy was hit and miss due to the wind gusts but the AR22 upper has potential as seen in the attached pics. Shows that it has a preference for Lapua Club and RWS Target. Flyers were most likely caused by the wind gusts.

Had a couple of failures to fire. Lite firing pin marks on the rim caused by powder fouling mixed with the soft lube used on the bullets. I would imagine that a quick blast with some brakeclean will get the function back to 100%.
So far 400 rounds without cleaning before the failures happened.

sorry if I missed something, but how much was the upper? I wouldnt mind being able to throw more than 5-10 rounds down range at all.

The upper functions with most everything I try to shoot in it. Never failed to feed and will fail to fire only after 400+ rounds of heavy lubed target ammo. Kind makes a thick gooey paste with bullet lube and unburnt powder slows down the firing pin enough to cause FTF. Quick shot of BrakeKleen and back into action!
Check with Questar for the pricing as mine was a test sample thats not going back.
Recent tests with Federal Olympic Gold Medal $20+ per box shoot as well as my Anschutz 54 at 25 meters.

I kind of suspected that these would be a lot more accurate than just a plinker ;)

Were the Federal Gold results much better than the Lapua Super club?
