For those that want a dedicated AR15 upper in 22 RimFire. Got mine today and had a chance to check it over carefully and test fire for function and accuracy. Tested out three brands of ammo for function.
The upper is made by Tactical solutions and is in their M4 configuration. The following pics are of a Stag Arms lower with an Armalite upper with comparison pics of the TacSol upper along with their supplied magazine. When installed one can't tell the uppers apart very readily other than the mag being a dead give away.
I will add a few pics of targets later this evening.
Both targets were shot at 25 meters off hand with iron sights.
First target rapid fire:
Second target slow and deliberate aim.
Initialy a few failure to feed and a couple light rim hits with Lapua Club and Win. Wildcat looks like it has a preferrence to plated bullets over plain lead CCI Mini Mags shot the best groups and functioned the best. It will take a couple more boxes of ammo to get the upper to function 100% and settle down. Will post more info as I test the TacSol upper out more in the the next few days. BlackDog Mag worked perfectly with as little as 5 rounds being loaded or its max capacity of 27 rounds.
I obtained this sample unit from a dealer/importer in Vancouver before he decides to commit to a larger order. I'm not sending this upper back no matter what!
Cleaned the action after yesterdays test firing. Lubed the firing pin with a teflon lube and went to the range tonight. 100% function with no failures to feed or fire. Lapua Club, RWS match with the plain lubricated lead bullets functioned perfectly as well. Previous problems were most likely caused by a burr or grit in the firing pin channel. One very happy camper here! Next trip will be with a scope to see what it will really do at 50 mtrs.
