Well as I can't use my CAR-15 at other than a restricted range I decided to order some parts from EBay, so now I have something fun and cheap to shoot. Kinda like a mini- CAR 15, oh well at least people think it looks neat. PS I polished the trigger parts and beveled the feed ramp and it shoots flawlessly now.

Ar-7

The CAR 15 stock was 10 bucks off EBay, the handguards 12 bucks of EBay, the scope 5 bucks off Ebay, the laser 10 bucks off EBay, pistol grip 5 bucks off EBay, and the 25 round mags (3) were 15 bucks each at a gunshow. I went to a metal stop and bought aluminin for a barrel shroud and for the buttstock and fabricated the pistol grip hardware in my shop. Shoots really well, most just love the weight and handling of it. Shoots well for what it is.

Thanks guys

Yeah in stock form the AR-7 is ugly and functions poorly. Winters are long so it keeps me busy. Just finished my Russian SKS buildup it shoots fantastic and looks just evil. My fun gun is a full auto Russian Drozd BB gun, now they are just insane!! My army buddies fight over who is going to shoot it!!!

Hey Randy, did you have to modify the original AR-7 pieces in order to get the dress-up stuff to attach? What does the handguard attach to?

Everything can be removed. I built up the pistol grip mount from aluminum it screws to the rear sight screw behind the bolt and lower receiver. The handguards were screwed directly to the aluminum barrel shroud I made as I have an extra AR-7 skinny barrel. But the shroud and everything else are removable.

Well, I've got the grip and a cheap red dot scope so now all I need is the CAR stock, the short handguards, and of course an AR-7 (or Henry U.S. Survival rifle as they are now called). :D

What length of handguards did you use Randy?

Originally I used CAR-15 short grips and they looked goofy so then I bought standard length AR-15 grips and they looked and felt better. The rst was just playing in my shop. I used trunk bed liner for the paint it is the best to use.

Have fun and if you get a AR-7 make sure you carefully bevel the feed ramp on the barrel so it feeds properly like I did, now it shoots perfectly.
