Does anyone offer an AR-platform basic training course? I'm totally new to them and would be interested in a course on how they work, how to assemble/disassemble, clean and maintain, proper operation, etc. I'm not even looking for any shooting time, just a table top run through on how the platform runs and learn all the guts and goings on. Rather than fart around trying to learn it myself it would be nice to have an experience person shorten up my learning curve.

Yup, I'm in Kingston so getting to Trenton is no trouble. I have no time in the summer, but in the winter I should have lots of time.

sorry about that, i was surfing with my BB:cool:
We are foign to put on an AR15 clinic at one shot tactical at some point, prob some time in the summer, but no problem with doing one or two later in the year also.

That's easy, just go to the recruiting center. When the guy asks you if you like camping, say yes:D

Baron, contact CGN member Tritium (Earl Green) on this board or though his website phase line green tactical. I've taken his two day carbine course, he's a very good instructor.

Watch a few videos on Youtube and ask questions here. Wealth of knowledge.

While I agree that watching the right video's can be helpful and asking the right questions to the right people is a good start, nothing takes the place of one on one training. Not only do you get to learn by doing, but you get to see what parts of your kit work and what parts don't. There is no substitute for quality personal training.

Just come to one of the IDPA shoots at the club. There are quite a few in the group who would be more than willing to answer any questions you have and I'm sure show you a thing or two.

If you don't mind waiting a bit, I know an organization that will actually PAY you to learn some of the basics. They will teach you general safe-handling of an AR based rifle, how to do a field strip, a detailed strip, some basic operating skills (shooting from various positions as well as a few stoppage drills), and some basic marksmanship principles.

Try these guys:

Also if you like getting yelled at and beasted in physical training, then I highly recommend it.
