Ar build questions

Cheaper to buy a complete rifle but more fun to build it. If you buy a complete rifle you will probably end up spending more money on mods over time but building one you get exactly what you want right from the start. That is of course if you know what you want, I don't know how much experience you have with AR's so I'm not sure if you already know what you like of if it will be trial and error figuring it out.
Best thing about the AR is that if you decide you don't like something on your rifle you can just swap it out and try something else (as long as you buy a quality milspec AR so the parts fit).

quicker and cheaper up front to buy, cheaper in the long run to build and you have exactly what you want.

If you have a flattop upper allready get a good barrel and free float tube and off to the races.

Rifle or midlength gas will be your best bet

This. I'm the only firearm enthusiast in my family, so I'm learning as I go. If you build your own, it will be yours, exactly as you want it. However, if you do decide to build it, don't cheap out. Otherwise you're better off buying a quality pre-built rifle and changing things as you go along.

I was thinking of getting a Dominion Arms c8 when can am has them in stock.

Personally, I think you'd be better off custom building a rifle over time. I've heard a lot of hit and miss with DA, but that's just me.

That being said, if you pony up the extra and get a DD or CC, you really don't have to upgrade anything major.
