In order for for a open pistol comp to work properly you need the max amount of pressure from the gasses. Is it the same for lets say a JP break on a AR? Should I reload to max pressure to get the most out it?

Rifle comps are mostly attached to reduce the muzzle rise, for faster followup shots. I've discovered the HUGE difference that the little Miculek comp makes in my cadence recently. There has been lots of comp talk on Global Village in the past.. I'm sure CGN action shooters with more experience in long guns (mostly guys who shoot south of the border) will also chime in. I'm switching to rimfire, so doing more research on this topic is a bit less useful than tits on a bull ;)

As for reloading, what you wanna get is the lightest load that will meet your power factor, cycle your action and group reasonably at the max distance you'll be shooting. Use heavier projectiles and shop for barrels accordingly.
