Update: Was the gas tube roll pin as suspected. Rigged a temp new pin out of a nail and just got back from testing it out...cycles perfectly again. New pin on its way...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So, out at the range this morning before work for a quick shoot and after about 30 rounds my AR stopped cycling...It would fire the chambered round but would not eject the spent case...bolt would just stop. I could cycle it manually and everything works. This was weird as this gun has been "stake my life" reliable for the past 2 years and thousands of rounds. Was using AE 5.56 factory ammo.
Took the BCG out and inspected it...was dirty with some carbon build up but nothing out of the ordinary...Ejector and bolt all seem ok...Carrier slides easily inside the upper over the gas tube...tested the buffer spring, everything seems fine.
So, now I just got home and wanted to clean and inspect the gas system...noticed the gas tube roll pin was missing...everything else looks fine. Tube seems clear of blockage, Gas block is on tight and no leaks I can find other than the tube pin hole...Is this my problem? Would the missing gas tube pin be enough leakage to cause this?
Appreciate any insight and opinions...thanks
