I just swapped out the grip on my new AR with an ergo grip, but if I tighten it all the way, it won't fire.

If I loosen it out a bit, the spring sets and it will fire, but the grip is loose.
I've dropped some lube on the spring and made sure its sitting properly.

What gives?

Its an ergo grip btw.

Is the spring seating properly (straight and in the hole in the grip)? Check for binding. Take it off and re-instal with close attention to the position of the spring and see if that solves your problem.

I did re-install making exactly sure about 5 times now.

Kinda annoying me, the hole appears to sit the same depth as my old a2 grip, and I know I'm getting the angles right because installing my a2 grip works the first time easy peasy.

Maybe the depth of the main bolt hole is off, causing the whole grip to sit overtight?

Could just be an ERGO quality control issue.

AHA.

Bolt measures 1-7/32nds thread.

I learned something new today.

IS there anything special about this bolt, or can I just run to Cambodian tire and get one.

BETTER QUESTION: What is the bolt size I should be looking for.

Without looking it up, I believe they're 1/4-28.

I have lots of them here, both allen head caps and the harder to use slotted head. Can send you one if desired.

But you don't need to get another one. Simply grind some off the length so it is less than 1-1/8", and carefully deburr the end of the thread.

Was just gonna say the grip screw is too long. Had a buddy have the EXACT same issue a year ago.

You could probably get away with using an extra lock washer or two, or if you can find a a nut, you could saw/file the tip off (and when you unthread the nut it will restore the threads)

I'm late to the party i guess. i had the same problem using the factory norc bolt on a magpul moe grip. used the one magpul sent (that threw under the fridge in my excitement) and all was well again
