You really don't need one. If you stand the rifle up on the stock, you should be able to compress the D Ring assembly enough to pop the hand guard off.
While using your hands works fine for most handguards, Some have retarded tight delta rings. I build/ service more than a handfull of carbines a year. Its a nice tool to have.
I just get a second person to help and problem solved. Have also used a long pair of pliers. Squeeze the handle around the ring and pull down. Can also use a leg as leverage
I bought a super cheap one from Canada ammo think it was $10. Definitely worth it if the rifle is new and I don't care who ya are having the tool makes life a hell of a lot easier. Specialty with them dominions and norcs those rings seem extra stuff
