You really don't need one. If you stand the rifle up on the stock, you should be able to compress the D Ring assembly enough to pop the hand guard off.

Just a suggestion in case you're new to AR's

While using your hands works fine for most handguards, Some have retarded tight delta rings. I build/ service more than a handfull of carbines a year. Its a nice tool to have.

I'm finding it very useful. Questar can help you, just make sure to buy the bigger model. Much better design.

I just get a second person to help and problem solved. Have also used a long pair of pliers. Squeeze the handle around the ring and pull down. Can also use a leg as leverage

I bought a super cheap one from Canada ammo think it was $10. Definitely worth it if the rifle is new and I don't care who ya are having the tool makes life a hell of a lot easier. Specialty with them dominions and norcs those rings seem extra stuff

The key is to focus finger pressure on the delta ring right next to the seam and pop the upper one first.
