AR handguard vs barrel length aesthetic

I've got 9mm AR with a 12" barrel and like the longer handguard look but is an 11" guard to long when it starts to cover a standard vortex flash hider?
I know that a 10" would probably be perfect but EE shopping only leaves certain options.
 
Sorry maybe better said that it is 12" to the end of the flash, 10" I guess would be the barrel. Still goofy?
Probably look better the a KX3 or that style brake, but options for 9mm are a little narrower.
