Have been interested in an AR chambered in 9mm for some time, a new thread on a CGN sponsor really has me going now! Besides the one they are prompted to bring into Canada, they haven't responded that it's going to happen, what other Quality / Reliable AR's are out there and available in Canada? I have an AR in 5.56, another similar firearm in 9mm would be a fun addition.

While I am all for using black rifles as hunting tools, you probably meant to put this in the Black Rifles forum. Soon you will have some people on this forum getting all pissy because you dared to use "their" forum. :)

hmmmm. I wondered, an AR in 9 seemed more like a sporting rifle than a true "black". Oh well. No harm intended. Perhaps a mod will move or delete. I would delete but not sure how to pull that off. I know how threads go off the rails. lol

Im thinking more along the lines of an actual AR platform, JP ?, Colt ? , but in a SBR, 10 to 11 inches. I'll Put out a few more feelers, may need to import from USA.

How is the 9mm more sporting?

A second vote for the JR. I have both an AR and a JR; while the JR uses a completely different action of course, it accepts almost all AR furniture, has very similar weight & balance, you can run the same trigger in it as you do in your AR; shooting it has the same "feel" as an AR of comparable bbl length. Customer service is great, very responsive & the gun is very well made, Sturdy & dependable. Mine is closing on 30,000 rounds & it sees far more shooting time than the AR...much cheaper to shoot, non restricted so you can actually use it on small game, varmints etc. If I had to sell one of them, it would probably be the AR that went (It's a Daniel Defence, BTW). I get far more use/enjoyment out of the JR

My shooting bud has a JR yet hardly shoots it, I better get him to bring it out so I can try, I'm thinking I want a shorter barrel but I will check the JR out before dispensing dollars lol

..... it took 8 hours gatehouse
The question is valid and does not seem to be a criticism.

Obviously the 9mm is not a hunting cartridge, so the question was how is the 9mm more sporting assuming that the 223 was the other alternative in the AR platform?

When I decided to ask advice I looked at the forum headings, without a lot of thought I decided that a "black rifle", in my mind anyway, is chambered in .223/5.56, 308, 7.62 etc etc etc. Something with serious firepower. A 9mm being a handgun cartridge is not a popular hunting / game cartridge. One can then deduce that in an AR platform the cartridge is more likely used for "sport", 3 Gun etc etc. So I was drawn to the forum heading that included the word "sport". It's obvious now that my question should have been posted in black rifles section. White Flag waving ! Have a good day folks
