Sorry if this is the wrong forum, I wasn't sure where to put it in the competition shooting forums as it applies to a few disciplines, and I'm sure there's lots of people on here with experience.

I'm looking to get my first mode of transporting my AR magazines attached to my body. I'm wondering what other people use and what they recommend. I own mostly the LAR-15 pistol magazines and I'm not sure how well typical AR mag carriers will accommodate them, so any experience or advice on that would be appreciated. I was looking at some of the Blade-Tech double mag holsters as those will clamp onto my belt, and I'll be using that same belt for all kinds of competitions.

I have no experience with chest rigs or anything of that nature, so if anybody can recommend a good, lightweight, minimalist rig that can carry at least six mags (it needs to be really minimal as I overheat easily in the summer), that would also be interesting.

Thanks for any advice.

I suggest HSGI taco mag pouches. Very fast, secure and accomododate any magazine. As for lar mags, I suggest a faux bottom to replicate a 30 round magazine in size. I used wood screwed to the floor plate.

Chest rigs are a very personal thing. I'm happy with my bfg rackminus. Super light and low profile. Lots of good brands and lots of garbage as well. Do your research and have a plan as to what you need to carry vs what you want to carry. Regardless of brand I strongly suggest a modular rig over a fixed/sewn pouch version.

I see you're in Ontario. If you get the chance, go visit Farmboy at One Shot Tactical Supply. He's said he's willing to let people try on the gear in store to see what works.

Also, I'm not sure if they have any more in stock at the moment, but I recommend checking out the AT-15 magazines from Alberta Tactical Rifle Supply. I've tried them in a few pouches and they fit fairly well. They're about halfway between the LAR and PMAG in size so they have some space to grip in the pouches I've tried.

If you want to run REALLY light, you could run 6 single Tacos on 3 Raven Moduloader frames, right off your concealment belt - One Shot should have these in the near future. Get a good belt though. Google Raven Concealment.
