AR mag questions

I picked up some AR mags (WMI brand) off the EE and I noticed they are very tight fitting going into the mag well and also require a firm slap to seat.

The other mags I have go in much smoother and lock in/drop out easily.

The mags don't appear a whole lot different but I'm wondering if it might be possible to tweak the mags to get them to fit better. I thought about slightly enlarging the hole for mag catch and maybe removing a bit of material from the front and rear of the body.

Has anyone tied anything like this and have any suggestions on what to do or not to do?

I bought the same stuff a while back not the best mags, the follower needs to be replaced with a magpul anti tilt i would recommend.
The lips are a bit wierd also.

and why do you assume it was the sellers fault? maybe they worked perfectly fine in his gun, and never knew it was a problem.. maybe it's the buyers gun which is the problem..

your all ready to jump all over the seller for something you have very little information on .
 
I agree ckc123, if I had a problem with the seller I'd address that to him privately.

Perhaps they are junk, but I'm a noob and until I know otherwise I'm not going to run around spouting off about things I don't know. :)

I just want to know if there's somewhere to relieve some material to get a smoother fit. The mags feed fine so it'd be nice to get them working the way I'd like.
 
I've had a few different make lowers & not all mags would fit as good as others.
Difference in the thickness of the finish & slight size difference in mag wells.
 
Even though just about every AR manufacturer or assembler will promote their product as "mil-spec" that isn't necessarily so. I've seen many variations in actual mag-well specs whereby some mags will fit easily, others are tight and some simply won't work at all, yet they'll work fine in another rifle.

Unless the magazines are obviously damaged, it is difficult to blame the seller, especially if he/she has a good trader rating. In all likelihood, it may just be a case that the buyer's rifle has a tight mag-well or the mags are just a smidge larger than spec. Might've worked well in the seller's rifle with a larger mag-well, not so well with the new owner's tighter rifle? In any event there is enough doubt there, that you'd have to give a reputable sellers the benefit.

If purchased from a dealer, I'd ask to exchange them to see if another lot might work better for your rifle.

In my case buying five of them off the ee:

I didnt ask questions! just figured they were US manufactured not singapore cheap junk.

So in my case it was my fault, I thought about selling them back on EE but im not going to screw someone else..

I replaced the followers like i said to maguls and opened up the back of the feed lips with a dremel they work but if SHTF i wouldnt be using those except for a door stop!!
