If AR ever became non-res (sighhh), would their pricing go up or down? I'm asking because, everything 'black' seems to be judged against the AR platform, but AR are not the most expensive pieces of equipment out there. Maybe if things ever go right, this makes it an investment grade piece while still having a good time at the range waiting for the day.

well many of them would be still restricted due to barrell length. But laws of supply and demand would make it likely price on them would increase temporarily and prices of other non-restricted black rifles like the XCR, ACR, SL8 Swiss arms would go down a little but probably not by much. Personally I like the restricted short barrell CZ858's and Swiss arms anyways so I would still go with a restricted because I like short barrelled rifles.

If that day ever comes then the barell length restrictions should change too.

My opinion is that the ar prices wouldn't change a lot. They might go down some because a lot more volume would be moving. The major price change would be with all the current non restricted prices. They would be going down in a hurry. Would you buy an RFB or a Tavor at the prices they are now when you could buy an LMT, DD or Knights and use them in the same places? I know I wouldnt

That's a good point, I guess I should think in reverse then; it won't be the AR going up it would be the rest moving down.

I think you would also see an influx in the offering of barrels over 18.5" from every dealer. Despite the my love of short barrelled rifles, I would be swapping my barrel out in a hurry. ;)

That's what I was thinking. I probably wouldn't even consider any of the other platforms if ARs were non-restricted.

Part of that is a "working" relationship though.
