Core15, basic/gas. Got in mail yest, got optic, Bad Lever and mags today. First time owning one, hasn't been shot yet.

Bad Lever install was under 2 minutes, 1 screw piece of cake. Functions great.

Not crazy about the charging handle, feel like I'm gonna smack myself in the teeth due to lack of grip, plus it's quite gritty even when oiled up. Will be looking for replacement.

Trigger is better than expected, very little creep and crisp break that's not real heavy. Don't have a gauge but would guess 5lb.

Here's the question: I didn't clean the oil/grease out of the ramps. Should I before I shoot it?

i like to break my new AR's down, clean and inspect them to look for any defects. sometimes the grease can hide flaws, as it tends to pool up in some of the more vital areas. then run it wet...really wet, for the first couple hundred rounds.

thats just me though.

i like the Core15's, great rifle for just over 1K...and no grinder marks:D
 
Thanks, pbr. Guess I'm being a little lazy about it and should break down and clean that area up - looks like it'll be a total PITA to get in behind the lugs. I've had the rest of the big stuff apart, cleaned and reoiled...went with 50-50 Mobil 1 5/30 + ATF based on the reading I did. If it cooks off too fast in any key areas, I also have some Lucas bearing grease here I can use, but I'm thinking that won't be a problem.
 
You may be interested in the BFG gunfighter charging handles, they've got a mod 3 and a mod 4, the latch is bigger so it's so much easier to grab, and it's formed so that you can rack it with just your index finger... Not getting a rear BUIS?

Confirmed, this came from OneShot. In Ontario. I believe it was the last one they had in stock, or so I was told. I didn't ask about more coming.
