A friend of mine has a plastic AR mag (not a MagPul). Mag looks good, but the base plate broke off. There is a lip that hooks in on one side, and the other side has a tab that locks in further down the mag body. That long tab broke off at the base. Is there anyway of fixing it, or is there any way of getting a replacement base plate?

It sounds like a Thermold mag. Is the lower portion of the mag body ribbed?

I fixed one that broke like that by running a screw through the side and base at an angle. Looks like s**t, but it works. I don't know where you could find replacements.

Yes, it is ribbed, I thought that it night be a Thermold. It also has a neato loader that attaches to the top. I know mags are made to be thrown away, but - in this day and age when any kind of mag seems to be worth money, I was hoping I could fix it or find a replacement base plate for him.

i have a metal one that something similar happened to- it's a little messy and needs 4 or 5 applications, but CONTACT CEMENT might do the job- the stuff that comes in the tube- apply to both sides of the break, and then press it together( better if you clamp it if you can) and let it sit for the BETTER PART OF A WEEK- if that doesn't work, clean up the works and try one of the epoxys
