question about AR quad rails, is there a difference from one quad rail to another? well price is, or is there more to this. like a Ncstar quad rail is about the cheapest. what makes the others better or worth paying more?? Or is it all about brand names? I'm in the market and if I'm going with a tango down front grip od I really need a brand name?

Some are free-floating, most are not. Doesn't make a HUGE difference in accuracy, but it does help to have it floating.

You really get what you pay for. I bought a Samson free float one a while back, and cost me almost $400. However, I didn't mind, because it's a work of art, and very solid. My buddy has a UTG one, paid like $60, and he's very happy. Personally, I wouldn't be caught dead putting something like that on my guns, but hey, I'm a snob.

But really, when is ANYTHING with firearms about NEED? :) It's all about what you want.

at this point I can't see my self using a tactical light or laser on an AR, but I would use something like a tangodown grip. So that would be my reason for a quad rail.

Ok if a UTG & Ncstar quad rail are the cheapest and under a $75. if I was to move up a grade or 2 what would be a better rail for about $150. mark? just to keep this on a budget build. not sure if my handgaurd is free floating, I think it's not... I have a Stag RH3 upper

I got a Troy Industries MRF-DI which goes for about $180. You get some high quality craftsmanship at a low price. Its not free floating, but its toight like a toiger.

not sure how much you want to spend but the best rails are Knights Armament. They are used by US SOCOM and most others in military. I personally only use these but have experience with other brands. Always go back to KAC though. Brugger and Thomet are good but for an AR, go KAC.
