wondering what benefits the AR buffer system ( including the charging handle) has from say other styles? because it's restricted and i don't make it to the range enough with mine, i haven't had a whole lot of opportunity to find out for myself.

i figure there must be a reason to go that route and lose the option to have a folding stock as well as, what seems to be an inconvienent charging handle.

again, i haven't been out with it enough to see the positives, not to mention the exteme likelyhood i'll never see it in real action. edumacate me.

What is the benefit of a folding stock? Same as a telescoping stock, to adjust the LOP for the shooter and save space when storing or transporting. The folder only addresses one of these issues where as the tele-stock covers both.

The AR design also allows for a more direct line of recoil and greater weight distribution over the entire length of the firearm as compared to forward mounted gas systems.

The charging handle is a bit of a pita... especially if you have a target AR with a scope mounted towards the rear of the rail. I was entertaining the idea of trying a side-cocker modification but haven't had the time or money to throw away on another upper test-mule.

I believe it also improves/helps acuracy as the entire operating system recoils inline with the barrel

where the ak for instance the long ass gas rod is above the barrel causeing the barrel to move up and down

I remember seeing slow mo film of m16 and ak and thats what they said
