AR Trigger Problem

If this is in the wrong spot, sorry new to the forum. Couldnt find any info so I thought I would see what all the people here know.

I have a CQB 10.5" NEA and here is my issue:
When i squeez the trigger my gun goes bang. When i start to release the trigger, if I go very slowly the gun will discharge again. If I release the trigger a little quicker the trigger will reset. Is this a big issue? Should I be able to release that trigger as slowly as I please without a discharge or is this common on the AR platform?
I read on another forum that I would need to remove the disconnector and do some minor filing to it, is this true? Should I maybe have a trigger job done to the rifle? If so I would like to keep it a milspec trigger group which I believe is a single stage trigger. Who (what manufacturer) would you reccomend?

This disconnector is letting the hammer go before it has re engaged the sear.

I don't think filing would fix it, a problem like that may occur if there was too little of something to begin with.
For that matter, a trigger job would be unlikely to solve the problem either, unless of course, there is some obvious assembly mistake.

Unless you planned to upgrade the trigger you're pretty much SOL and will need to contact the manufacture for service unless you have the skills to take it apart and spot an obvious assembly mistake. AR triggers are so simple, there not much that could be going wrong in there. Unless they are adjustable, they either work or they don't.

Even if you wanted to upgrade, I would not recommend it unless you've confirmed that it is the trigger at fault. It'd suck to get a new trigger to find out they goofed that machining of the lower and the trigger pin holes are not located properly.

Send it back, this is a known issue with that manufacturer.

Or, you know...just contact them. Instead of packing up a rifle, getting an STATT to ship it, waiting for the gun to get there, get fixed, and get back; just call them. My rife had this issue and they sent me a new trigger group. Took 10 minuted to put the new group in and has been fine ever since.

you need a new trigger group----> contact them

You don't know that. All you know is that it is doubling. Oversize or worn hammer and trigger pin holes also cause this issue exactly as described. That is why there is a gauge for the holes. It may only be the disconnect spring or the disconnect.

Instead of speculating, send it back if it is under warranty.

Yep, contact NEA. They should mail you out the new trigger parts needed (the disconnector and the hammer should do it).

By they way, this problem is commonly called 'doubling'. I had the same problem with my low serial number NEA and the mailed me the replacement parts as soon as I contacted them.

As far as reworking the malfunctionning parts goes, it could probably be done. The issue is the timing of the release of the hammer by the disconnector, and its capture by the trigger. If the rifle were one for which parts were unobtainium, reworking the parts would be a reasonable option. With an AR, it is a much better idea to simply repllace them. As has been mentionned, the manufacturer will do this. Give them a call.

take a pic of the inside of the lower, small chance the hammer spring is in wrong, about a million years ago, i put a LKP in and installed the trigger spring wrong and i had the issue you had.
Very unlikley its the trigger pins in the wrong spot

When I had this same issue with my rifle (early series), the disconnector was badly and irregularly worn to the point where it would barely hold anything in place. On inspection, it was clearly a sub par part, probably from a subcontractor. The replacement I got was much better.

Thank you for the help. I have only just noticed this problem because I am new to the shooting world. Before I was just releasing the trigger and not "resetting" it properly.
Here is my next question, should I contact NEA or should I buy a new lower parts kit from a more established AR builder? I have my aftermarket parts to still instal and am not really concerned with the cost as I know "you get what you pay for". I am a huge Kinghts Armament and Daniel Defense fan so would one of their triggers be a better choice?
How would I be able to tell if the trigger pin holes are located properly?

Even if you want to buy a different trigger group, have NEA replace whatever is defective in your gun as well. You paid for a complete and working gun.

I contacted NEA on Feb 7th at about 3:30am and am still waiting for a reply. This will be my second report to them. The first time i had to tell them of a problem they took care of it right away. Hope they are still keeping good customer relations.
