Which part of the receiver of an AR type gun is the registered piece the upper recieiver or the lower receiver ? Is this the same for the FN style guns also? Or are all BLACK OR GREEN GUNS registered differently( some register the upper, some register the lower)? Because quite a few of the newer designs have an upper and lower receiver.

for most guns, the part that holds the barrel is the registered part, an AR is an exception.
