I purchased a Daniel Defense V7 last year and looking to start a couple mods on it. Mostly looking for recommendations on a good trigger and a muzzle device to combat muzzle rise when shooting.

I've read a lot of people love Geissele triggers but there's so many different ones, I don't know the difference between any of them. This is mostly a range toy and practice 3 gun style of shooting. Which style of trigger lends better to this type of shooting?

Also looking for ideas on a muzzle device to combat muzzle rise. The gun currently has a standard flash hider on it so looking for something a little different.

If you are concerned with vertical rise, you will need something with vertical ports.

Here is a link to brakes that we stock....we would recommend either the Piranha, Viper or Zero-G. Would depend on the look you like as well.

Cheers

JP brake std-profile comp amazing but loud for your range neighbors lol. Timney or a Geissele 3G are great triggers as well

Here’s an interesting consideration.

After having shot it the last year, What do you find you wish your factory trigger was? Lighter? Two stage? We can recommend triggers all day but you’re not going to know unless you try them out. For my primary guns I run ALG ACT triggers, best reiteration of a Mil-Spec trigger known to man and is only about 100 bucks. On my rifles that I use in a more precision capacity, I gravitate to the geissele 2 stage triggers, specifically the SD-E and 1 super tricon. Best to get out and meet some folks who will let you try out some and find what you like best.

As for muzzle rise, the A2 flash hider is actually pretty effective At combating muzzle rise, so chances are good a course or some training specifically working on your shooting techniques will do much more for your muzzle rise than a comp will. Holding a rifle by the magwell is going to allow your muzzle to jump a lot more than a proper, extended grip. That being said, I run a surefire closed tine warcomp on a 16” midlength rifle and find those two the be fairly effective at mitigating muzzle rise above and beyond what I’m capable of doing.

Just felt that the factory trigger is a bit stiff. Not sure if I'd go 2 stage or not. I'd love to try some different ones out but I don't really know anybody in the area with AR's to try.

It's likely that I just need more practice to mitigate recoil. Again, this would be something that would be nice to test out before buying.

If you want a low cost option to try out, the ALG ACT i mentioned are about 100 bucks, and they did a great job of really just “smoothing out” what a regular mil spec trigger is. I’ve never come across someone who didn’t like one.

I like the Geissele two stage triggers. SSA-E is my preference although have National Match, Super 3 Gun and will be testing out a Trigger Tech soon.

Combat triggers are designed to be a bit heavy. Look at trigger tech triggers. Few different models to pick from made in Canada and flat out impressive. Most upgrades are personal preference, lots for aesthetics, half are functionality. There’s literally dozens of muzzle break options. YouTube will be your friend in comparing because it’s obviously impossible to test them all unless you have unlimited disposable income. But as stated, top ports on the break will help with muzzle rise.

For 2 stage triggers i do like the geisseles.

For single stage the act is quite good. As is the bcm pnt. Between the act and the pnt pick the one that is up for a better price at the time because to me its a wash between which of the two I like more.

I have no experiemce with the single stage geisseles. I expect them to be good but the price is pretty steep.

i've got the hiperfire edt trigger system in both of my AR's, find them very reliable & smooth compared to stock.
fairly priced for a substantial upgrade imho.
