AR upper in 20" or 24"?

For a more expensive option, there is always Les Baer. Got mine through Wanstalls. Expensive but you can get different length barrels up to 24" I believe.
 
I have been using a SS 24" heavy barrel and upper from ArmaLite for years. Absolutely the best! It is heavy, but doesn't move at all, absorbs / takes up some of the recoil ( not there is much on an AR). It shoots sub MOA. Looks good too.
 
I have a 20" Mossberg MMR that I really like too. Flattop plus 20" barrel. 460 rounds so far (bought used) and not a single stoppage. (only ran a boresnake through it 2x)
I find the "recoil" from an AR is more from the Bolt carrier group moving back and forth, disturbing the balance of the gun, than any actual rearward force from the round going off.
