So i have a few questions concerning AR10s
I understand there are two types, and they are not interchangeable.
1: Armalite
2: DPMS

so which type is the sr25?
which type is compatible with xcrm pistol mags?
I have also read some ar15 triggers also work in the ar10, under which type?
What about ar10 bolts are they also specifc to type?

SR25 is DPMS type. This is compatible with the XCRM mags. I don't know if the Armalite will take them or not. To say that the two platforms are not interchangeable is somewhat overstating the case. You can run into problems with some parts, but not others. There is no 'milspec' standard for .308 AR rifles but they aren't wildly different either AFAIK.

I only know about the DPMS [since I have one], but a CMC AR-15 flat trigger group fit perfectly [and works extremely well] in my LR-308 and Brownells says that the same trigger will fit Armalite, DPMS and all standard width AR-15 receivers. By this I would be inclined to think that most trigger groups should work well in either platform...esp. the unitized drop-in style trigger units. You would want to check before purchase, of course. [Edit] After doing a little reading on the Brownells site, I see that the CMC trigger may have problems in the AR-10 as the gun's firing pin has a spring, rather than being left to free-float.

Dunno about BCGs or bolts specifically. I suspect there may be some significant differences there.

There is an 308AR.com forum you might want to join if you are thinking of getting into that world. Those guys know it all...

Someone can correct me if i am wrong, but I believe that the difference is the upper receiver, barrel, barrel nut, rail on top of of receiver and hand guard is .06" taller, and the bolt head space is different

DPMS has two generations as do the Armalite rifles. early AR10B guns have the modded M14 mags. the newer AR10A run the XCRM mags.

the DPMS G2 guns are the better of the bunch IMHO. smaller, lighter and more AR15 feel, run the XCRM mags. cheaper too boot.

DPSM G2 RECON FTW

the newer armalite model is the ar10a?

This is my experience of AR-10, they are not AR-15 i compare the AR-10 to an Asian chicks in Yaletown ( they cost a lot more lol) they are picky on Ammo so far i own 3 x Ar's 10 the best one was the Smith and Wesson M&P 10 but again he like higher load 165GR+ grain and best with 180 GR , many parts are not exchangeable on AR-10 , just my 2Cents ( i am married with an Asian anyway ) :)

I have one of the AR10b's it takes a proprietary Mag. I would think if you are looking to buy ask the seller which model they have. also I think the ar10A's are pretty new within the last few years so that might be a lead on which model you are actually buying.
