How difficult would if be to configure a standard 16" barrel assembly into a dissapator configuration?

I would assume that you would need a low profile gasblock to fit under the full length handguards. Would you need anything specific for the front post sights?

Will any available low profile gas block work on a standard 16" barrel?

The barrel diameter is too thin on a standard barrel where the front sight base is on the diss. barrel.
I would just cut a few inchs off the end of a 20"rifle or 16" midlength barrel if I was after that "look"........

Im under the impression that this configuration was simply to comply with US regulations where the minimum bbl length is 16", and avoids the four inches of skinny barrel as well as allowing for the use of the full length handguards.

I was wondering if the standard barrel could be cut without causing any loss of accuracy. Im hesitant to do that to a 20".

Since they were RESTICTED anyway it really wouldnt matter. Ive also read that the 16" is the optimum bbl length for the 5.56 carbine.

I like the look. You know a clamp on front sight can go near the front to give radius? The C8 CT rifle does that. Or get a full length rail and top it with folding front sight?
