A barrel naturally flexes when you fire a bullet. Anything that touches the barrel will affect accuracy. That's why they make free-floating hand guards.

Well, there are so much mounting solutions out there that you can easily avoid mounting a bipod on the barrel. If you must, it's not that big a deal; just note the point of impact shift when you use your barrel mounted bipod compared when you shoot the rifle unrested.

I dont like them... Affects accuracy and normally if you put a Bipod on thats something you care about.

I would not mount anything on the barrel. If you want the best solution get a free flow rail, and mount it directly on.

I never understood why the Canadian Forces went to the Tri-Rail, oh wait because it was a cheap bandaid solution.
