Hello everyone,

I did some research on the forum and didn't find anything. I have a AR15 from S&W. I cleaned it the old way so brush,, gun cleaning solution, chamber brush etc. For deep cleaning I have the Hornady ultrasonic cleaner that is very good. The problem is I had a jam at the shooting range. Story short, Even if I clean my rifle after all my session, I saw some pretty bad carbon built up in the star chamber.

I saw the Otis B.O.N.E and the Otis chamber cleaning tool that seem good to remove hard cabon in the chamber and in the bolt carrier. Saw some good review on the web.

I saw the Talon tool lug scraper and the CATM4 that is pretty the same thing that the Otis tool, but seems little bit better.

Do you guys tried one of this tool or what are you using to deep clean your bolt carrier or your chamber?

Didn't see the Talon tool in Canada, do you know where I can find it?

Thank you

Bolt carrier is easy to clean with some industrial scotch bright scrubbing pads.... No tools needed.

The chamber I just soak in CLP... I have a star tool that I wrap in patches that works alright

Never had jams though and I barely clean my ar

I haven;t cleaned my bore in 2k rounds min, and BCG in 1000 not one jam occurred.

I found that foaming wipeout really eats away at the carbon, it just flakes off without any issues.

Wipe out is great for a very thorough barrel and throat cleaning. Especially of copper fouling. Personally, I really like my CLPed up bore snake. Gets the job done quick.

The chamber doesn't have to be spotless. A gunked up chamber doesn't usually cause stoppages. I find most stoppages are bolt carrier group related. Usually if there's enough carbon to plug up a bolt carrier or bolt, there's still not enough to affect the locking lugs. That said, stranger things have happened.

If you're super anal about cleaning, a toothbrush a high pressure tap over the laundry sink and a small dish full of Dawn soap can't be beat. Just be sure to re-lube afterwards.

Seriously it was a level 10 jam(if it exist). I shot my rounds and at the last bullet enter the chamber but it didn't cycle completely. So the bolt carrier jammed like a 1/4 of an inch back. Can't pull or push the bolt carrier. It was like it was seazed. Made the tap rack ready but the gun didn't cycle at all. I tried to hit as hard as I can on my handle but nothing move. I separate the upper and lower to see what happened. Nothing at all. I had to pry with a flathead screwdriver to force back the bolt carrier. Saw that the fun was hot and the bullet came out. Saw a crust of carbon ine the chamber.

I put maybe 400 rounds in the past month without cleaning it and the gun has around a 1000 round fired. So i tought that maybe a didn't clean it completely the last time .
