AR15 ejection port cover won’t close, due to pin dropping out?

I was racking the C/H on my stag , when the small pin and spring that keeps the dust cover closed , fell out.

There’s a small roll pin, that keeps this all together.
Is there a way to remove this roll pin?
I’ve searched google and can’t find anything.
The hole that receives the roll pin appears to only have one open end.

The stag upper cane with the ejection cover and FA already installed.
Also, what would cause that to fall out?79192A8F-0868-449D-993C-B5B35CE41DA2.jpg
Thanks

Bad roll pin may have broken, you need the right sized pin punch to drive it out. If its only open on one side... it may not be servicable. You could try and drill it out, but I do not know the hardness of these pins. If its softer steel than your drill bit no problem.

Edit: get a new dust cover?

IMHO, it's not worth trying to fix this. Just use your spare to replace the defective dust cover and be done with it. It'll probably never fail again. The pin assembly is press fit to the cover and needs to be removed to get access to the roll pin hole.

depending on the diameter of the hole and the length of the pin, punching it all the way in may let it fall out into the inside of the hole to remove it?

However at like $20 how much is it worth fixing

I just replaced it,as trying to fix it looks to be A headache.
The roll pin has to come out the same way it went in , and it’s tiny.

Odd that it just fell out, the stag upper is brand new.
