AR15 handguard question

Is it possible to put a mid length free float handguard on a barrel that is set up for a carbine lenght handguard? Or am I screwed because of the location of the gas port? I think I am screwed but though I would check with the cgn experts.

Are you referring to a free floating tubular handguard? Position of the gas port doesn't matter, as long as the handguard clears the gas block.

Excellent. I was looking at some pics in the gallery section and was kinda starting to think that might work. Thanks for the info. That answers my question perfectly. Also means something I was hoping would work will work.

What tiriaq said. You need a low profile gas block and you're good to go.
