I am in the planning stages of building an AR15 and haven't fully decided if I should go the standard 223 rounds or I am leaning more towards the 9mm glock lower. I am just curious if there are any others that have this rifle in 9mm and their thoughts on it. I have the Storm and truly enjoy it but only recently found that AR's can be built in 9mm as well. Any thoughts on this are greatly appreciated.

If you are a high volume CQB shooter around 50m then the 9mm makes sence. You can push it out to 100m but rarely shoot my 9mm past 25m.

You can use .223 for both short and longer ranges, but its more expensive and difficult to reload.

The only true solution is to get both uppers and the conversion bits. :^)

I love 9mm. I started out with an upper and just converted it, but in the end I bought a second lower and left it in 9mm.

Id go with the 9mm unless you are going to be shooting past 50m regularly. It's cheaper by far and gives you the option of using at indoor ranges as well as outdoor. I have both and shoot my 9mm way more often.

.22 conversion kit all the way, cheaper then 9mm, I have 0 issues out to 100m with it besides haveing to aim a bit high or click up on the scope compared to .223

also cheaper for a 250$ drop in kit then a full upper, oh and unlimited mag capacity is awesome

Can I bolt a 9mm upper onto a standard lower? Will it accept standard AR triggers and charging handles?

It will go on a standard lower but you will need a 9mm or non notched hammer, heavy 9mm buffer, and magazine well adaptor/block.

It will take standard AR charging handles.

The one reason to get a 9mm AR over a JR carbine is the ergonomics are the same for training purposes. Other than that it's tough to beat the cost and non restricted status of the JR.
