This was originally posted as "AK clips". My bad, the post should have read AR15 magazines.
So let me start again. I have a fair quantity of AR15 magazines in the order of 69 items. 33 of these are pinned for 5 rounds and the remainder are 20 round magazines.
My question is the same, are these scrap because they are associated with prohibited firearms? Do they fit any other type of restricted or unrestricted firearm.
Got these from my brothers estate so you'll have to excuse my ignorance in this matter.

If this is junk I want to get rid of it.

They are not illegal (yet) and yes there are many bolt guns and pumps that can still use them
Put them up for sale on the EE if you want to get rid of tgem
People will buy them

I wouldn't openly talk about having unpinned 20 round mags. All semi-auto rifle mags are supposed to be limited to 5 rounds. You can pin those as well or sell them to someone with a license (usually a business) to possess prohibited devices.

As the others mention, there are lots of other rifles that use AR pattern mags.

I wouldn’t want to be involved in pinning them myself or even transporting or shipping them, especially if he wasn’t sure about the law. If I were him I would edit or delete the original post. I would call around to local dealers, tell them exactly what you have and see if they can buy them from you. I would probably make them come and pick them up. They should be worth around 10-20 bucks a piece.

If you’re in Ontario, I remember reading that marstar used to buy estate collections and things like this (pre-ban). They are licensed to pick up the magazines and pin them at their shop for resale

DIY pin
A rivet is a rivet, and is legal.

Measure 3 times, compare, pin

Easier then listening to your spouse...

Thanks for all the response to the question. That's good information.
I have no idea what these things are worth but anything over 5 rounds I'm willing to dispose of to local law enforcement, there's not that many.

Is there any way of posting a pic to this site, The only option I have is http link.
There is, but it doesn't unlock till you reach a certain post count.

Do you see below where you enter your post, ATTACH FILES TAB? its on the bottom left hand corner of the text box? Left of the Arrow Post Reply?

I currently have no such tab. Thanks for the info, I guess its just a matter of time.

All the unpinned 20 rounders were returned as part of the estate along with all the firearms and ammunition. I was told the law cannot confiscate these items on a whim as we become the rightful owners. Holding them back for destruction would be theft.

Maybe they're setting me up for a future raid. If it happens I'll change my greeting to "Comrade"

Firearms, etc. from an estate may be held by the executor of the estate for a reasonable period of time pending legal disposition.
This is a temporary situation.
Prohibited firearms and devices may only be transferred in a legal manner.

Have you loaded them? And they hold more than 5?

The executor can possess all these things legally while disbursing the estate. Prohibited guns/devices/etc. can only be transferred to someone holding the appropriate license, estate or not. You do not magically become licensed for them just because someone passed them down to you (unfortunately).

If you don't have the license you can't take possession of them legally. Pinning the mags will make them compliant and remove your jeopardy from that front.

I don't know what to tell you and I'm no lawyer, but the bulk of the estate has been dispersed and settled almost a year ago. Exhibits who store the firearms and associated goods released them to me just over one month ago. firearms picked up first then the ammo and other parts. Maybe they didn't get it right?

I can tell you that settling the estate took just over 3 years, and unfortunately Canadian Law is not always what you think it is.
