Who has a AR15 with a shorty buffer?
I was thinking of getting one for my 9mm AR15 with a 8" barrel.

What do you think about them?
Figure piss off the liberal more by making my AR shorter.

You mean like a pistol buffer and buffer tube?

Check ARFcom, they have a whole forum for it.

I allready got a pistol buffer, I meant this...

That looks like the butt end of the Bradly fighting vehicle port firing M16 variant. I have no idea if it works with a 9mm upper or a standard 223 upper.

AR15 M16 PISTOL BUFFER TUBE Assembly Bushmaster Part $50.00

This is the original Pistol Recoil that we developed from the late 80s. The tube is 4 inches long and has the correct recoil spring specifically designed for this system alone.

Thought it looked like this but I guess it is different:

Submachine Gun, 5.56mm: Firing Port Weapon, M231 (Rifles and Carbine Team, AMSTA-LC-CSIR). The M231 firing port weapon was adopted in December 1979 concurrent with the standardization of the M2 Bradley Infantry Fighting Vehicle(IFV). Sixty-Five per-cent of the parts of the M231 are identical to those of the M16A1 rifle. The M231 firing port weapon is light-weight, air-cooled, gas-operated, cartridge magazine fed, mounted in a ball firing port in the vehicle (two on each side; two in the back). The weapon can be quickly mounted or removed from the vehicle's ball swivel mount. The M231 fires on full automatic only, beginning from open bolt carrier and striker assembly position.

The one Robert alludes to is off the pistol variant AR series -- theoretically banned by the OA-93 ban - but since CFC is of the opinion the receiver is the weapon you can mod a normal AR into that config...

The only other short buffer setup is off the Deimaco PDW series
it is simply a shortend carbine buffer setup. IIRC this was the "homejob" done by the LCMM to prove the concept.

There is a pic of the refined version in Black Rifle II.

Edit -- okay for some reason my pic wont show.

Another question without starting a new post. Would those KFH & KX3 Flash Suppressors be usefull on my 9mm AR15 if I bored out the exit hole. Seeing they 9mm all albout blowback and the FH help aids in cycling.

Hmm...! You know I always thought that the Diemaco PDW looked kind of cheesy, but now I'm thinking that a shortened collapsible butt would look good on my 9.25" 9mm. Is the buffer stock or did they have to shorten that as well? KevinB, who or what is LCMM? Perhaps they could give us more info on the conversion.

I am pretty sure that won't work. Because that small cylinder goes into the bolt carrier, and on every 9mm bolt I have seen, that area is taken up with a a weight.

I looked at my 9mm Bolt and theres a roll pin where I believe holds the weight.

LCMM - Lifecycle Material Manager - Small Arms - CWO Garry Crocker (he is featured in Black Rifle II so I doubt there is a PERSEC issue).

The buffer is shortened as well for the buffer tube is 1" shorten and wont cycle with a stock buffer.
