Bill C-71 brought me to this forum.
Reading threads on it convinced me to buy my first AR15.

I have a couple friends who want an AR but can't afford one right now...
But they can probably afford a Lower (#### I might buy a couple myself)

Any advise on buying a low to mid budget lower?
Are there any to really avoid?

When it comes to basic mil spec lowers, they're all the same as long as they're a reputable manufacturer who follows the specifications.
If you want basic, and budget go Aero precision. They simply cannot be beat. Plus, they're no better or worse than the higher end BCM's, Colts, etc.
This coming from a guy who used BCM, noveske, Colt, spikes tac & Colt Canada on his personal rifles.

Ones to avoid, NEA or Norinco, there is more than a few hundred documented cases here regarding issues with tolerance, specs etc. just not worth the few buck you'd save.

I just bought a Aero precision gen 2 from Saskatoon gun works. great people to deal with. Also bought a Aero M4E1 upper with handguard from a member.

Don't buy from LANZ. They sent me an Anderson lower not in its original packaging and scratched all to crap. Good lower (Anderson manufacturing) if you can find one. But thumbs down to LANZ (dealer on here). My lower cam in a greasy used bolt bag

Honestly, unless you're a lefty and and have enough AR15 shooting experience to know that you need/want a high-end lower with built-in ambi controls, there is no reason to buy anything else than an Aero Precision lower.

It's the least expensive properly machined lower receiver, made by a company with a solid track record of quality, available in Canada. Everything cheaper is light years behind.
