I have a Colt AR, I've loaded Varget, 4064, Benchmark with 55gr campro bullets, brass always lands beside me and slightly back. I just loaded some CFE 223, and the brass ejects more to the front of me, making it a pain to pick up. It will do this every ware from the starting load to max load. Any Ideas why?

The bolt is moving at a different speed that it was due to pressure change, resulting in the brass spinning more and hitting the case deflector

Just a guess

I have a AR15 A2 HBAR with a rifle gas system and a AR15 carbine with a mid-length gas system. With the same ammo the A2 HBAR ejects to the 3:00 to 4:00 position and the mid-length ejects to the 2:00 to 3:00 position. Meaning ejection depends on your type gas system and port pressure and as long as you are not having any ejection problems then don't worry about the clock position of the ejected cases.

Just remember it doesn't matter where your brass lands in a Zombie attack, all that matters are accurate head shots.

Just wondering if I started working loads down slowly below starting loads in the manuals, if it would eject more to the side.

I think a adjustable gas block would be more effective rather than down loading.

Or make a brass catcher out of 1/2 inch PVC pipe and net laundry bags and keep all your brass at the shooting bench.

Higher action speed --> more forward brass ejection
Sounds like your CFE load is hotter. Ideally you would turn down the adjustable gas block.

Sounds like your CFE223 loads are hotter than the other loads. Do you have a chronograph?
If your CFE load is accurate and you want to stick with it then a heavier buffer or adjustable gas block will help you slow things down a little.
As long as your brass looks good I wouldn't worry about it too much. I've found CFE223 and Nosler 60gr Varmageddon projectiles go very well together in my semi auto's :)

This is the brass catcher I use, I bought the one that mounts to the rear of the flat top rail. You'll have to decide which will work best with your optics on your rifle, also remember to order a couple extra mounts if you have more than one semi auto.

What kind of tool kit should I get to remove my front A2, and install an adjustable gas block? Any sponsors sell them?

You need a small hammer and a punch set to remove the taper pins and gas tube pin from the A2 and most of the replacement gas blocks use allen or torx head bolts to clamp onto the barrel. No special tools required.

Where are you guys getting mounts for the 3bucc?

Brownells doesn't list them, the Canadian outfit that sold them has vanished, and 3bucc website doesn't work..

Ejection overgassed. Options: heavier buffer, stronger spring, ajustable gas block or a M16 bolt carrier. I had my fix with a H2 buffer.
