AR15 to AR10 parts compatibility?

So for my 3rd rifle I want to step up to a larger caliber, I have a DD MK18 and I am just putting together a 7.5 PDW at the moment. I really like putting together a rifle from parts with the AR platform instead of buying a complete rifle. I was on the fence for a while about buying an XCR in .308 but I think Ive decided to build AR platform instead as I really enjoy working on the guns and piecing them together with components I like

Now my question is besides the upper/lower, barrel and BCG, what other parts are AR10 specific and wont fit from an AR15?

Are trigger groups the same? How about rail systems are they a different size to fit AR10 uppers?

Just trying to do some research so I know what parts I'll have to buy that are AR10 specific, as I have quite a few left over parts from the AR15's. Safety, bolt catch, magazine release buttons, trigger group, buffer weights

You also have to understand that a lot of Ar10 parts aren't compatible between the various AR 10 makes too, so do your homework. DPMS and Armalite uppers and lowers aren't compatible with each other. Barrel nuts are different. There isn't much selection with regard to rails (at least up here) Magazines aren't compatible, although the new Armalites do take p mags, but armalite isn't selling them as a stripped unit yet just complete rifles. Basically it would be prudent to not only decide what you want to build but to actually source the parts before you start buying. I had to wait almost 2 years to get one part. And honestly, I think it is cheaper to buy a complete gun rather than build

Yeah cost savings over a complete rifle I know about, I just really like to build. If I buy complete I end up changing out half the parts on it anyways, so thats why I like building from parts I choose. Also building or working on guns is just as much fun for me as shooting

Thanks for the info I had a feeling the AR10 was a little more complicated then sourcing and building an AR15 because there is very little AR10 parts to be found for sale from Canadian retailers

Hummmmm now you got me back on the fence I want to go .308 but dont know what to do now.....Originally I wanted to buy a HK MR308 from my local gun shop, but was iffy about the proprietary mags, keeping me from being able to use LAR 10 round mags

Any other suggestions for tactical .308 style? Something that even if I buy as a complete rifle has a decent selection of aftermarket parts and add ons

I went the buding it up route. Man, $2500 in and i still have a ####ty dpms barreled ar308. Buy a complete aero precision rifle. Even if you have to change out half the stuff. You probably be less than 2500.

Spec on mine was aero lower, dpms upper and 20"dpms barrel. Dpms bcg, samson evolution 15" rail. Plus lpk and stock kit

I bought my AR-10 from a guy that pieced it together from all top end parts and there is around $3000 retail into it.
My old DPMS with 24 inch heavy stainless barrel cost me aroud $1500, that leaves a lot of money for upgrades.

I went with the Wyndham .308 SRC - like others are saying - not a lot of commonality other than basic bolt on parts (stock, flash hider/brake). Gun works well, I just don't really plan on mod-ing it much.

Went to a DPMS from IRUNGUNS for $749 US About $950 $Can all in. I was planning to do major upgrades but it has been working very well so I've added optics, BUIS, added a Magpul grip and stock. Gun works well with Robinson 10 rd 308 magazines.

The one I got had the threaded barrel and adjustable stock. That model is sold out but they have the standand A2 stock model for $699.

Model currently on sale is
