So are all the standard triggers in the lpks from different maufactures basically the same? I am interested in hearing about trigger pull and feel.
Let me know what you think.

Many unless you pay big are standard mil spec triggers, they are "ok" but in comparison to a Timney or a Geissele, they're garbage.

They can all (standard versions) be trued, polished and springs adjusted and made "reasonable"
stoneing and polishing will crispen the triggers break and you can usually get @ 2lbs less pull. This takes a bit of time and a patient hand,@1.5 -2hrs
adj. springs will lessen the pull a bit(last resort)
All my AR's now have Timmney's in them except my POF that has their own version of the timmney(really nice). best drop in available IMO
Geissele are also a great option. Very clean but still in the 4-4.5 lbs range

So what are the benefits of a Timney or Gisselle? If I'm not using it as a precision, and just CQB styled shooting is there a benefit to swap out the standard trigger?

I'm just curious really as I have a lower receiver that requires a trigger, and can't decide from a mil spec or something else....

The upgraded triggers are going to have a lighter/crisper pull than a standard Mil-Spec trigger.

From the looks of what you want to use your AR for, the standard trigger will be just fine.

The upgraded triggers are mostly for shooting tiny little groups. If you are shooting free hand in a 3-gun type scenario, a trigger job on the std parts is probably just fine. I have a match trigger in my accuracy AR, the rest have GI type triggers and they are fine for the shooting I do.

I dropped a Timney trigger in my AR the night before a 3 gun match, it worked flawlessly
and has a nice crisp pull that's just right for action shooting with the AR, and it's way nicer than the standard trigger.
I love it. YMMV.

Occasionally, a rifle comes with a factory trigger that's quite nice, relatively speaking. My STAG came with a very clean 6 lbs pull. One trigger that is quite good but less expensive than either a Timney or a Geissele is the Rock River Arms one. I have installed one in a stock AR-15 and I am happy with it. I have installed two Geisseles in my target AR-15 and AR-10, respectively, they are fantastic. One should be careful stoning a factory trigger and sear not to go deeper than the case hardening and ruin them. Also, keep them lubed with grease.
