AR15 vs All the other black rifles

I think the original question can be further simplified. Do you have a PAL or RPAL? Then its easier to understand why people love the AR. This gun has a place in history and thats hard to not notice. Also my first resticted firearm was a Glock17, I have to go to the range to shoot that so why would a restricted AR be an inconveniance? All guns are great unless they are pointed at you, lets love them all...to a degree and not be devisive. I dont hunt and have no interest in it but I still dont want hunters to lose their right and would like them not to wish us others to lose ours. Alas i'm wandering from the original point.

If all your gun purchases are based on restriction of use, we would not even need to own guns at all.

Buy what you can and when you still can, the AR15 needs to be in everyones collection.

:agree:

I have already lost the right to buy another FAL by not keeping mine through the grandfather period. I'm not planing on letting it happen to this firearm.

AR's aren't the only Black Rifle that AR owners would be all over.
But I/we lurve them because of what they are and what they represent.

Even though it's development has roots in military theater.
It's what we (as civilians) have as the de facto best of breed for a relatively affordable, proven reliable, tactically oriented sport rifle platform that can be optimized for the users specific requirements.

Here in Banada, civilian ARs are toys. If what you are looking for is a shooting toy/sports equipment.... The AR is hard to beat.

If you need a black rifle for some other purpose, And the only other wholy legal option is hunting. Then there are better (read legal) black rifles from a practical and functional standpoint, M14 perhaps.

As a Canadian, I think your decision is pretty simple based on your requirement.
Do you need a do-it-all black rifle? Not an AR
Do you want a toy to play at the range? = AR

Having said that. You are kidding yourself (as ALL CGNers know) if you think you will only be able to afford only one. Where there is a will, there will be a way.

IMVHO, Every restricted firearms owner worth their weight in salt should own an one AR, one Glock or 1911 and one non-restricted .22LR rifle. These are the staples. Everything else is gravy.

Let us know which AR(s) :) you end up getting.

Almost right...but IMHO you forgot to include some type of 12 gauge.
