Depends on why it's not registered. If it wasn't registered but legally owned in Canada before the restricted status was applied to the AR15 then you may be able to, if the person who owned it had passed and no one knew of the rifle until now, but any other situation I can think of they probably will take the rifle at minimum.

Most of the stories I have heard about people registering newly discovered restricted firearms have indicated it is no big deal. The cops do not usually hassle folks over this.
