It wont be long before our AR180B receivers are here to up grade our ARMALITE AR180B plastic receivers , thanks to Jason of IRUNGUNS for making this happen, ........................btw great u tube videos are online to help the change over

I am very excited as well . I look forward to this upgrade as I own 2 of those Ar 180B , one still new in the box never shot .

Will post pictures once its been assembled and mounted .

Cheers for the resurrection of an old warrior , I was getting nervous about shooting the rifle with old receiver but to be honest, it always fired and shot decent enough for its intended purpose .

I don't see it as an upgrade since I've never had an issue with my rifle and I don't worry about shooting it. A new lower won't make it shoot any better and it's a lot of money to fix a problem that isn't a problem.
The problem rifles that have broken were mostly from a batch of bad polymer they got and other that that the failures have been few and far between. Plenty of rifles have polymer lowers with zero issues.

I am glad there is a replacement just in case but I won't be spending money on it unless mine breaks.
What are the lowers retailing for?

That's a nice looking rifle - the NDS lower is a major peace of mind improvement. Now if we could just get the whole gun. The whole idea of the original was that it would be cheaper to produce than the AR 15.

Not cheaper but easier to produce in less advanced countries.

It's certainly a nice option for those with prohibs. It would at least make it shootable again.

Knowing that it's available is a peace of mind improvement but I think people are worrying about something that doesn't need to be worried about. The internet is great at making a small issue seen in a few rifles turn into something that is huge and needs to be dealt with. I see it on this site and on the car site I visit.

We all wish for a low price high quality non restricted semi auto but thinking that because the AR180B was $800 in the US years and years ago somehow makes the $1500+ they go for these days unreasonable is silly, factor in inflation, change in the value of the dollar and all the stupid new laws and rules regarding export and import we can forget about ever seeing that wish come true.
I paid $1400 for mine new back in 07 and I know I could sell it for more but I won't sell it because I like it too much. Even though I have a non restricted ACR and an SL8-4 done up like a G36 I still won't sell it because it's such a fun and light rifle.
I think the guys trying to get $2000 for their rifle are nuts and if someone spends the money on one of these lowers you can pretty much write that money off if you decide to sell it. Most people will still see AR180 and think it's a $800-$1000 rifle, and will still be scared to buy one considering there is no parts support.
Original design idea doesn't mean much 40 years later and after a few model revisions and now discontinuation. Even on an AR-15 billet lowers are not cheap and the cost of everything has gone up. The only reason an AR is cheap in comparison is the shear volume of production and the market to keep them moving off the shelves. We'll never see that on a rifle like this that only really appeals to Canada and collectors.

I totally agree with CR5 only one or two thnigs to add.

It is a rifle that almost has developed an emotional attachment to its' owners.

I am very happy to see there is a continued interest in it and that parts are even yet, in development for it and support it.

So here's my question. Is the Nodakspud lower compatible with all of the internal parts from a Sterling-mfr AR-180 lower? In other words, with just this lower and my AR-180 LPK, can I free my Sterling AR-180 from prohib jail and put rounds downrange thru it again? I'm guessing the "finished firearm" would be restricted due to the original AR-180 barrel length, regardless of the pinned and welded 3-prong FH....

Can anyone actually confirm whether or not an original "donor" AR-180 will work with the new NDS lower? If so, I will likely buy one...but I don't want to be the guinea-pig!!

You need an ar180b2 fire control group. It will take a 180 upper but the lower parts won't all switch over.

The trigger group is an AR one (but with longer pins to accommodate the wider receiver), and it also has an AR mag release. So the lower parts he'll need to track down from a 180B are the pivot pin and e-clip, bolt hold open, bolt hold open retaining pin and e-clip, trigger and hammer pins, bolt hold open spring, and selector switch (looks almost like an AR one, but it has a groove in it for the bolt hold open spring, and I think it may be longer to fit the receiver). Wonder if we could convince a sponsor to make even a limited quantity of those missing parts?

EDIT: Reading Nodak's website, they have made the lowers so the front pivot pin from an AR will work, so that's another part he may not have to look for if he has one on hand.

I agree on all.
I love the design, love the simplicity and practicality of it. No flash or tacticool stupidity, all function.
Huge fan of the 180b. I owned two over the years. I sold them though as much as I loved them as I could not stomach the "what if" eventuality of a critical part breaking ie bolt, cam pin, firing pin etc That's an expensive paperweight...
I still like to think that with the simplicity of manufacture on this stamped sheet metal and plastic rifle, that it could even be reproduced in this country and still stay somewhere under or just above the $1K mark.
I'd buy one. Hell I'd probably buy two.
Similar to the original but just a little different. Keep it light, very simple and very reliable and keep it cheap! Keep components somewhat compat with AR15 to keep costs even lower. Bring it back as the Canadian everymans non restricted, semi auto black rifle!
It's there damn it all, right there! Painfully obvious. We just need someone with the production system in place, knows the channels and has the funding. Tweak two or three things and call it something different like "CA-180-2" or whatever to dance around copyright. With an NR FRT and a price tag around $1K it would make someone a hell of a lot of money real quick.
That's the one thing missing in our market and it amazes me that after 20+ years of the horse s**t Firearms Act, noone in this country has managed to pump out a cheap, simple, reliable semi auto .223 that everyone can afford to fill the gap left by the AR going restricted.

Had to purchase this lower today. While removing the aftermarket stock the previous owner had on there the threads that are moulded into the stock came out with the bolt that holds the stock on. There was lots of blue locktite on there.
Looking forward to the lower but the price sure hurt. It's too bad because the lower on my rifle was in brand new condition and now it's just a plastic paperweight.
Any pointers on swapping parts over would be appreciated
