I was asked about an SKS the other day but know little about them. My buddy showed me his SKS and all of the numbers and markings are in Arabic making it difficult to register.

Is there any info on here that I could get directed to ?

I tried the links for identification and they were not opening for me.

Like I said I know next to nothing about SKS rifles, it is in a plain reddish type stock with the hinged bayonet folding under the the barrel to the back. The link with the number conversion will help in trying to locate the date. I will snap some pics of it tonight and send them out to those who are literate in arabic.

Well there goes my idea of it being an Egyptian Contract Chi-Com. From the pictures I've seen they were in laminate. The Syrian used Russians were normal, except for painted Arabic on the butt. Post some pics here if you can, maybe someone can help you out.

Buddy called a verifier and through some contacts was told that it might be an Iranian made SKS, but not 100% . I will get some pics up of it and let you guys tell me what you think it is. It has been in his family since the late 80's if that helps.

Well seeing as Iran has never been linked to SKS manufacturing,I'd be interested in some pics. The time frame fits the Century imports of the Syrian used Russians. So it might just be an Egyptian Contract one from China.
