They wont be super light as we are using kevlar and ceramic not uhmw
Uhmw may be lighter by volume but the BFS is massive.
It will stop the round you will just die from the impact
There is a growing trend to make plates super light and thin.
Which is fantastic if you are useing super high end components like boron carbide.
BUT making plates lighter but useing the very minimum amount of backing material is resulting in massive amount of BFS aka back face signature.
What that means in English is this.
Just because the plates stops the round and meets the maximum allowable BFS doe,s mot meen you won't die from the impact .
We are trying to keep our BFS to under 25mm on
30-06 M2 AP.
NiJ now allows up to 50 mm on the new standard!!!
If you want a light good plate your looking at arought 1800 to 1900.
