Hello folks!

I have been having some trouble with a few of my magazines. I know there was a thread about this a couple months ago, but I can't seem to find it. So if someone can redirect me, that would be great, but if not here's whats happening...

I bought three magazines. I labeled them 1, 2, and 3. Following me so far :D

Magazine #1 - Shoots like a dream, with the odd FTF or FTE

Magazine #2 - Stovepipes galore!! With a nice FTF jammed in there every once in awhile

Magazine #3 - Jam-O-Matic!! Had rounds get stripped off the top without the follower moving the next round into position! When it does manage to put rounds at the feed lips, it is plauged with stovepipes as well.

Seems like the bolt is short stroking or something? I was shooting older Federal bulk, could the age of the ammunition be causing the issue? I didn't have any other ammo to try or else I would have.

I also have a Butler Creek steel lips mag though, loaded up 25, and squeezed em away as fast as I could. Not one single malfunction! This leads me to believe that the Archangel mags are the problem.

I think I remember reading that the feed lip on these mags tall enough to make contact with the bolt. Is that right?

Thanks for any help you can give guys!

Bill

I've got two of the AA-9/22 mags, one I would list as your #2 and the other would be #3. I'm using bulk winchester ammo, so that may be the problem, but my 4 buttler creek steel lips i've never had an issue with. Both Mags I've bought in the past 4 weeks.

My #3 mag seems to not move the next round up once in a while, I have to take the mag out, tap the bottom then re-insert it.

The AA-9/22 mags look better than the Buttler Creek ones, but I'm getting frustrated with the problems as well.

I read/saw somewhere that its an issue with the ammo not being always pushed up far enough by the mag follower and some times its the shape of the feed lips . The article I read mention this problem sometimes goes away with use . There are videos on Youtube about this issue .

I have two mags as well, the one that came with the kit works just fine. Thes secone one however, felt like the spring in the mag was not as taught, and when i push bullets into the mag, the front of the bullets always want to pop up past the little spring thing at the top.

One thing to check is to strip the troublesome mags apart (easy to do, no tools required) and check to make sure there's no plastic mod-flashing on the inside...if there is, it can cause the follower to hang up, pop up when it shouldn't, etc. I haven't had any troubles with my mags, but I've heard of this issue. If the flashing is there, trim it off with a knife or file, reassemble, and try it again...
