Hi there,

I want to install a 12.5 barrel on the mod, and in terms of keeping the 10/22 the legal length to ensure that it remains non-restricted, what modification would I have to do to the folding stock? What would be the best way to permanently pin the stock and prevent it from collapsing that would meet, and pass an inspection?

Much appreciated,

Don't drill it, take the spring out of the button and replace it with a 45acp case .. Or a 40sw if the tolerances are different. That's how mines done with no problems

Edit: I guess some details would be nice right? Take the hex key out of the hinge and remove the butt. Punch the pin out. It should be about centre of the front end of the stock ( the spot that contacts the trap door on the chassis part) when the pin it punched the button will come out with the spring, remove the spring, add a empty 45 case and reinsert the pin. Then put the stock on as it would be unfolded. Replace the hex screw and then your finished you have an un butchered fully reversible, "permanent" modification (permanent as the law requires)

Thanks Skip, a buddy sourced a couple casings for me and I'll give this a try. Might even take some pics of the process if its not as straightforward as you make it sound.

Edit: .40 S&W worked perfect. Took 5 mins. Now to see if it works with the IDZ stock.

Edit 2: took even less time with the IDZ. Instead of a pin, there is a rectangular spring loaded button. Push that button in, the push in the round button on the side (careful - the small button has a tiny spring that will go into low orbit if your thumb slips off). Put .40 S&W in place of the spring, and its locked. Good stuff, its nice when something works and is easy!
