went out early today looking for deer.it was kind of windy which helped my stay quiet in the bush but I knew i would have to get close for a good shot.I walked around for an hour or two and finally saw 4 mule bucks eating.non of them were very large but this is my last day off before rifle season.

I got with in about 60 yards of the deer and they decided to leave.they didn't run away just left so I snuck through some bush and saw them again but they were about 200 yards out now and still moving away from me.I took a guess of were they would be going and started sneaking there.I got there a bit to late to cut them off.I spent the next 20 minutes trying to get close I was about 40 yards with no decent shot and they started to move towards me.the biggest one was in the back but the deer were comiing down the trail I was on I stayed crouched and didn't move when the first deer was about 5 yeards from me he snorted and I thought I was busted but he just went around me the other two followed and the biggest one was a bit behind them.there was one point after the 3 had passed that non of them were looking at me so I drew my bow and aimed at a clearing the last buck was about to step into I was still kneeling since I was just in buck brush.it seemed like it was going to take for ever for that buck to take a last step.finaly he did but he was looking right at me at about 15 yards so i waited and finnaly he turned his head and I shot got him just above the brisket.he started to run away there was a solid stream of blood comming out of him I watched him lay down beside a round bale.I watched him until he stoped moving then i walked a mile to the truck and went back for him.
my first bow deer.not very big but I was happy and right after the shot I looked over and found a moose shed.good day.

Congrats on a nice hunt! I miss my bow hunting days. They used to say the average bowhunter would go 7 years before being successful with a big game hunt. Nice rack as well, thanks for the pic!

thank you very much.this deer does have a nice body indeed.I decided to butcher right away as the temps are to warm to let hang he is all deboned and in the house now.now the fun part trimming.this is far from my biggest deer but it is my first deer with my bow.I have spent so much time trying to sneak and bow deer this year.plus all the time I spent practicing with my bow.this is realy the most rewarding deer I have ever gotten.I wanted to bow hunt but I can't sit long enough for stand hunting.every one around here looked at me like I was stupid when I said I planned to spot and stalk hunt with my bow.it is by far the hardest hunting I have ever done but it is so intense and fun.It is also very frusterating at times like when you spend 2 hours stalking one deer and you spook him when you draw your bow.I have learned alot more in the last month and a half about being quiet in the bush than I every thought possible or ever though about while rifle hunting.
