Hi Gent's, Lorne will be posting the pic for me soon (hopefully).

I see everyone's spoils of hunting and have to show mine. The whitey was taken a couple years ago around home. He's not bad for being a 4 point :p I took him at 80 paces with a Mossberg 835 ultimag 12 gauge. I was using a Federal rifled slug, they do make a little bit of a wound  . I'd tell you how much he weighed, but you'd call me a liar. It took three grown men and a bucket of grunts, to get him in the truck.

I love Alberta.

Arch's buck

I would love to tell abunch of lies on Arch about his FIRST SHOTGUN BUCK, but I would likely have a hunting accident the next time I went out with him.Yes it took 3 of us to load it into a 2wd mazda, and before he comes up with some wild ass number, the next spring is when he went out and bought a livestock scale.(to weigh his CATTLE don't ya know;)

Great buck! Now tell us the story. How come the shotgun?

Ted

We are in a shotgun only WMU  Thus the shotguns. Believe me if I could use my 8mm Mag I would !!! :p

The factual story is my two uncles and I were on a mission to push bush that morning. I was sent out to set up whilst my older, wiser uncles, sat in the house drinking coffee. We agreed where I was to head out to (on foot) and while I was leaving Paul told me to check a tiny slough on my way that was about 125 yards away from his grain bins.

I did just that. I was about 40 yards from the slough when out he popped. My first shot went, not in the deer. I cycled quickly and was trying to get a bead on him quartering away(open sights). He ran to the crest of a rise and stopped, turning broadside to me. Bang, dear went down, hit him in the shoulder.
I ran up to him, still kicking, so I pumped another one into the heart to end the suffering.

Needless to say I was a little excited, I RAN and I mean RAN, back to the farm house. I don't think I touched a stair going up the deck. I burst in the door and there are my to hunting pals still drinking coffee. I said "want to come help me load my buck ?" Curt replied to me "Fu*# you !!!"

Out we headed and there he was. Loaded him and of to Dad's place to cut him up. To this day me thinks Paul has regretted telling me to check that slough. The buck was taken on his land  Curt I think is just pissed because I had only been hunting for 8 minutes when I got this nice buck.

Morale of the story .... Less coffee means more bucks !!!

We have definately took our share of nice deer and are going to do it again this year. Couldn't have asked for better hunting partners. Lots of laughs and lots of fun :!:

Arch :D
