Are 22lr/9mm 1911s full size?

Just wondering if the 1911s in 22lr or 9mm calibers are full sized like the regular 45acp 1911, or are they physically smaller like the 380acp version?

Been looking around for a smaller 1911 for my small hands so I've been looking for the 380acp version with no luck.

I visited two different gun stores in my city and received contrary information. One told me the 22lr/9mm 1911s are the same size as the regular 1911, and at another store, the employee said there were 22lr 1911s which are 80% the size of a regular 1911...

super confused and hoping somebody could help. I did some research and it seems that the most popular recommendations like the Springfield Armoury EMP 1911 and the Kimber ones are all prohibited and not available in Canada.

Not sure about weight but size wise not necessarily any different. i.e. the walther 1911 A1 is same length as a lot of the 45acp 1911s out there. You can compare on handgun hero. Think it depends on make and model.
 
Depends on the brand, as phin11 says browning makes a 80% 1911 .22lr which works a lot better than most 100% 1911 .22lr's as the 80% can move a much smaller slide with 22lr blowback force vs trying to move a much bigger and heavier 100% slide with limited 22lr force.

There are also other Commander 1911's in Canada that have 4.25" barrels vs the full size 5" barrel. Not sure how much their grip changes but it is a "smaller" 1911

It's a good question. As said above, Browning makes the 80% scale 1911 in 22LR and 380. In your shoes, I'd try really hard to find one in 380. They pop up from time to time, a WTB ad here and the other sites might work. (if you're really keen, maybe talk to IRUNGUNS about getting options from the US)

All other versions that I know of are "full size".

There is the "Commander" format, with the same grip length but a shorter slide and barrel. There is the "Officer" format, with shorter grip and magazines. None of these will feel smaller in the grip to you since they have the same grip circumference.

HOWEVER there are three fairly common 1911 modifications you can do to improve fit of a standard frame 1911 for smaller hands: Flat mainspring housing, thin grip panels, and shorter trigger.
 
There are slim grips for the 1911, the browning is the only one that makes a smaller one, that I know of, I don't have large hands, don't find 1911 large, try a Beretta 92 to see large.
A straight back strap will be smaller than a curved one. Also there are short triggers, and long ones, so that would make a difference.

9mm and 22LR are full size 1 to 1 ratio. Except most of the 22s 1911 are normally made of lighter weight materials.

My SAM 9mm 1911 actually weighs more than my Springfield MC operator in 45 ACP.
