Are all new Winchester 94s made in Japan or was this just a brief thing 5 years ago?

The production was moved to Japan and started in around 2011. Previous to that Miroku had been making special runs of 1892 etc for Winchester in New Haven.

In my opinion they are without doubt the best mass produced firearms on the market today. The fit and finish are superb and you won't be disappointed should you decide to acquire one.

The Japanese do not accept anything less than excellence in their firearms manufacturing. I know several Japanese people, and if Miroku's work ethic is anything like my co-workers work ethic, I would feel shame along side them. They always tell me that their Homeland is in deep trouble because they have NO NATURAL RESOURCES left in Japan, and their manufacturing sector relies completely on imported metals and woods. This makes them a victim of recently high prices in metals etc. If they cannot buy metal/wood at competitive prices, they may be out of work soon enough.

I've handled the new 94s at the store and they are gorgeous with very nice fit and finish. I don'tvcare for the safety or the hammer design but the quality is better than the originals.

I'm not up on the whole history but the Browning repro lever action from awhile ago were made in Japan. I own a Winchester Miroku 92 Deluxe Takedown and love it. I usually buy older standard levers, 70's 444 and 50's 94 currently, but splurged on this with Prophet Rivers help to import. I like the safety but am not sold on the rebound hammer. The rifle functions flawlessly. However the wood, bluing and fit qualify it for the only fancy high end gun I own. My standards are humble!

If I was in the market I would keep an eye out for a used Browning lever repro. As far as I know some like the B-92 do not have the safety or rebounder but I'm not sure on this for all Browning repos.
