Been kinda looking around for one and called so many places and man, I just keep finding sporterized Krags...like I remember when were not THAT uncommon.

Actually, now that I think about it it's not just Krags, but other milsurps as well...sporterized is cool but like...just not my thing lol.

What happened to them? I can't imagine they are super duper limited.

One thing I always found when looking for that one gun. No where to be found. They are out there people currently aren’t selling them. Keep searching. Sometimes you stumble across one when you least expect it. I know there has been a recent interest in rebuilding them as I am running across people attempting it.

Krags are very uncommon to find in original military form, they used to be very popular to sporterize and were one of the first milsurps to be sold off, making them more likely to have been sporterized than many other models.

The most common ones in original condition in country is American Krags. Very few Norwegian ones in original condition. Extremely few Danish ones even in country. Most people that have them at the moment aren’t selling, like most the milsurps. All you can do is wait and keep searching or try to buy one in the States and import.

Keep in mind they are popular to collect. I know if one came up at the right price I would jump on it. Still kicking myself for not buying a Danish one a few years ago.

I have imported several guns from the US last year, including two full wood Norsk Krag. It is nowhere near as scary as people think. Import broker fee is $225 CAD. Duty is 5% and still is on non-US guns. Shipping is about $150 CAD. The biggest hit comes from the exchange rate and maybe auction fee if you buy at an auction.

There just isn't a very large pool of collector-grade guns in Canada. The best items go directly from collector to collector and never make it to public forums. Those that do are expensive and you have to be prepared to pay for what you want. There are no deals to be made anywehere, but if someone wants it bad enough, he can find it.

SARCO ships some things direct to Canada, you have to call them.

For a military krag, the cmp still sell them and several are always listed in GB. You would need to use an importer.

Wow. So much useful info! Thank you everyone! I'm gonna try my luck asking an importer to find a Danish one because I just have been looking forever.

If any of you got Krags but don't wanna sell them, I will accept pictures of your beauties in my inbox so I can shed a single tear and be jelly!

Wish me luck!

1917 Danish Krag. A lovely smooth functioning rifle unfortunately too long. I would
love to have an original charger for one. John

1916 Norwegian Krag.
Some of the earliest rifles made in the late 1890s were made by Steyr. Anyone have
an original sling they can sell me? John

Yes. Its the same sling that's on the M1912/16 on the bottom. All original Norske. However, someone "repaired" it obviously years ago using shoe nails. But it is real. Norwegian slings aren't found on Amazon or Alibabba.
Krag sling gone.
