Are Glock 19's legal in Canada?

Since it has a barrel length under 105mm and all.

The law we had foisted on us grandfathered current owners with short barreled pistols like Glock 19's. Anyone who already had one on that date can continue to own one.
No new people can get them.
You can have a new Glock 19 with a barrel of over 4 1/4".

love my 19

I have one & I've pimp'd it out. don't plan to ever sell it, so don't care about resale value. If my future off spring don't want it, it can be barried with me :) I've ported the barrel (2 ports) one long cut out on top of slide. side ports are for less weight & cool affect :D , it also has ext. slide release, ext. mag. release, mag well, 3.5 trigger connector, hearrts recoil (mercury filled) guide rod.
tritium night sights. :D

Here a look at it: oh and my colt while we're at it

Would the short barrel be prohibited per se, or only when installed in a pistol?

The barrel itself. You can't import a new barrel under 105mm in length. When a short barreled gun is rebarreled to over 105mm, the short barrel must be destroyed.

Hmm, this is interesting. So if you have a 12(6) gun with a worn out barrel, you've got yourself a nice paperweight?

If you're lucky there are a few gunsmiths with prohib barrels who can replace your worn barrel.

They can't sell you the barrel, but they can replace yours if it's in need of repair. Then they have to confirm they destroyed the old one.

This process prevents 5000 murders a day.

It is possible to import a replacement barrel for your worn out 12(6) barrel... it's a pain in the ass and costly, but it can be done. If the importer has the Business License allowing them to do gunsmithing and to work on Prohibited firearms then they can get an import permit for a replacement barrel and turn-in the replaced barrel for destruction once the exchange is done.

DFAIT will issue an Import Permit (not to be confused with an IIC) for the short barrel specifically for that purpose. It's no different than when we import parts to do work on LE full autos or prohibited devices.

or you just get a smith to cut a non prohib barrel down and replace your worn out one.
