Are Luger grips numbered?

I had a chance to handle a 1938 S/42 Luger the other night. It's matching #'s save for the magazine. I was wondering if the grips would have been numbered too?

I have seen WaA as well as Numbers on the backside of Luger Grips, as well as none.
Depends on the year, maker, WW1 or WW2.

My WW1 Luger doesn't have any numbers on the wooden grips. It's a 1917 issue.

My matching S/42 1937 has grips serialed with the last 2 numbers on the inside. Unsure of 1938. Need Kidvett to resond, he'll know for certain.

My 1917 Erfurt has the two last digits printed on the inside of the grips, too.
